AirsideTV.com Celebrates Its Second Anniversary, New Platform
Online Aviation Video Channel Offers Unprecedented Media
Daytona Beach, Fla. (May 21, 2003)
AirsideTV, the world’s first and only online aviation video channel, recently celebrated its two-year anniversary with the introduction of a new media platform.
The online aviation video channel, a subsidiary of NetsideTV Company, Ltd., celebrated its second anniversary on April 16, 2003. Since its launch, the channel has streamed over 1000 hours of aviation programming, provided one-half million aviation video downloads, completed over one-half million viewer sessions and recorded an amazing 25 million hits.
Recently, AirsideTV debuted its new Microsoft Media 9 server platform, which offers a host of improvements over its previous server system. This technology, which was tested on AirsideTV by Microsoft before its public distribution, offers unprecedented streaming quality, including full-screen DVD quality images for broadband users and impressive smooth video images for dial-up users. Media 9 allows all viewers, regardless of their internet connection, to enjoy quality access to this revolutionary online video channel.
“We are excited about the new Media 9 platform,” said Paul Brennan, co-founder and director of programming for AirsideTV. “Now, more than ever, our viewers will enjoy the best aviation content via our high-quality video feed.”
Throughout the last two years, AirsideTV has featured many high-profile events via its unique video platform, including the Space Day Foundation’s online educational program: Space Day(SM) Design Challenges, featuring former astronaut and U.S. Senator John Glenn and CBS correspondent Joie Chen. AirsideTV also broke ground with the first ever worldwide daily broadcast from the grounds of EAA’s AirVenture Oshkosh 2002. This event will be covered again this summer along with another unprecedented webcast from the Paris Airshow in June.
AirsideTV has also signed an agreement to promote the U.S. Centennial of Flight Commission’s national campaign, Centennial of Flight: Born of Dreams — Inspired by Freedom through Web-based programming and live Web coverage of centennial of flight events on both AirsideTV.com and the U.S. Centennial of Flight Commission Web site. AirsideTV has covered many of these events and plans to broadcast additional centennial-related events, including EAA’s AirVenture in Oshkosh, Wis., and North Carolina’s First Flight Centennial Celebration in Kitty Hawk, N.C. this December. On December 17, in North Carolina, AirsideTV.com will broadcast live the attempt to re-create the Wright Brothers’ first flight from Kill Devil Hills. AirsideTV is currently the only Web-based broadcaster offering consistent and live coverage of the Centennial events.
AirsideTV offers 24-hour streaming video of a wide variety of aviation topics including air shows, modern and historic aviation documentaries, and aviation news.
